The Asylum

When I arrived home from work yesterday, Dona greeted me at the door. I could tell immediately that something was wrong. She informed me that Charlie Kirk had been shot; she believed the shot was fatal. Later in the evening, information was posted that he had died.

Yesterday I also heard about the killing of Iryna Zarutsha. This poor girl was stabbed to death by a recently released habitual criminal while riding on a train in Charlotte, NC.

This morning, I found myself grieving for two people I did not even know: Kirk, and Zarutsha. I had watched a few of Charlie Kirk’s debates and found his knowledge and skills as a debater to be formidable. Coupled with this gift was his gentleness and genuineness in conveying his Christian faith. It seems his only crime was being vocal about the things he believed.

Iryna Zarutsha fled the war in the Ukraine to come to the safety of the United States. From what I have read, she was a kind and gentle soul. Her only crime was to take a seat on a train in front of a madman.

As I think about this deluge of sadness, this heavy heart I carry today, I find I am grieving for more than just Charlie and Iryna. I am greatly disturbed in my spirit, my heart aches, my gut is in knots, it is difficult to catch my breath; it seems nothing can assuage this grief— I have awakened to a mockery of America.

The real America has been gasping for breath for years now, and I fear She has passed in the night. What remains is a carcass, only a shell of what She once was; I grieve because,

America is dead.

Senseless killings are now the norm. We continue to pour funding into a criminal justice system that is broken. Liberal judges turn criminals loose and there is no accountability. Prosecutors refuse to do their jobs. They “dispose” of cases, which is lawyer speak for dismissing those that require them to work.

Political leaders line their purses and pursue their own agendas. Hatred and ugliness fill the hearts of so many, and they target those things that the rest of us treasure and believe are good and to be protected.

The liberal left enforces its beliefs with violence and murders those who oppose them. They scream that we must align ourselves with their ideologies. We must evolve with them and kill off the dinosaurs among us. We must become atheists, only a non-thinker can believe in a god. We must tolerate homosexuality, even embrace it. We should each be exploring our sexuality and experimenting with other lifestyles, even our children should be free to do so. The Christian says, “God is love.” That is a lie. Love itself is a god. We must be more understanding and tolerant of the criminal; after all, he cannot help who he is; he is merely expressing himself. He steals, rapes, and kills because he was not given the same opportunities as you and I. We must support those who do not want to work, employment should be a choice, not mandatory. We must all give up our rights, the Government knows what is best for us.

When we have accepted all of these things, we will see change. We will usher in a utopia in which we can all be friends, brothers, and even lovers. Thus saith the liberal.

Another sad day in this place we call America has come and gone. I feel dirty, even ashamed to assign that moniker to myself. It no longer carries the weight it once did.

America is dead.

Welcome to “the largest open-air asylum in the world.”
