Since its occurrence, I have been paying very close attention to the news media’s coverage of the assassination attempt against President Trump. I have also been reading what people are saying about this incident, and I can feel my hackles rise higher with each additional comment I read from the liberal leftists condoning the assassin’s efforts and their dismay that President Trump was not murdered.  

I actually have very little hope that we can save this once great nation. Never at any point in my lifetime have I heard more discussion about Texas leaving the union, or the desire for outright civil war. How did we get here? The question is rhetorical of course, and we all know how we got here. We have allowed the special interest groups to push their agendas and force their beliefs down our throats no matter how contrary they may be to the norms of society. These groups make up an extremely tiny percentage of our society, yet we have allowed them to dictate to us their beliefs, desires, and wants. They have even taken to reeducating the young in order to influence future generations. A line has been drawn in the sand, but it keeps being redrawn as we continue to give way under the threats of the special interest groups. When we began to allow this loud minority to dictate to us via edicts passed by their bought and paid for legislators, we justly received our recompense. Idle men have sat by and watched this occur. We are each guilty, and we should be ashamed and readily accept our chastening as well as a scourging for our inaction. I am reminded of a quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer in which he declared, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

There is no doubt in my mind that we have passed some “Event Horizon” when it comes to our standing government. Lies and deceit have become synonymous with politics. Our government is filled with fools and the majority seem to be merely puppets. I often wonder who the puppeteer is. Is there some dark specter in the background guiding, orchestrating all of these events? Another curiosity is that all states are mixtures of liberal and conservative, but if you look at any polling results what you will find is the most densely populated areas are the ones voting blue. Your rural areas predominantly vote red; thus, this is where your conservatives reside, and it seems to me that the country folks are still the real thinkers. The “educated” move to the metropolises and subsequently perform self-lobotomy. It is so very odd. I have seen friends, even relatives who were very intelligent and held conservative views, but shortly after moving to the city, they transmogrified into a liberal. This only reinforces my belief that the denser the population, the denser the population becomes.

I have come to believe that we do ourselves a disservice to stay within the same political confines as the left. The fact is they do not think like we do. They do not even share the same morals that we do. Actually, I think morals is a word that has been surgically extracted from the vocabulary of many liberals. Now this may seem a little harsh, but I don’t think it really is. Look at the leftist platform and make your own decision as to whether I am correct or not. Form your own opinion, but think as you do so. I think that is yet another problem with our society in that people do not think anymore. Many base their beliefs on misinformation gathered from a few youtube videos and the elicited emotions thus become their entire belief platform. Emotions should never dictate our actions; thought must be included in any decision making. 

I also believe we are nearing the time (if we have not yet arrived) to stand together and at least consider what our forefathers wrote into the Declaration of Independence. This document is so profound and exhilarates like no other piece of literature. You can still feel the passion of the authors emitting from the ink. There was so much thought of the future put into that writing, specifically the following, “…That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government…” I will add that it is not treasonous to offer this opinion. I am merely in agreement with what our Forefathers knew was inevitable with any government. Furthermore, I am a military veteran as well as active law enforcement, which makes me a sworn defender of the U.S. Constitution, and I take my oaths seriously. Please understand, that my ardent defense of the Constitution knows no bounds, but that defense is as it is written, not as some liberal puke interprets it. By the way, this was how our Forefathers felt as well. It is my country that I love, not this travesty of a government, and I think one can distinguish between the two. My country is filled with people who will fight for what they love. The belief is that this tripe being pushed through the media is all a lie, and they are sick of it. They are tired of the mooches who sponge off of our tax dollars sitting on their duffs “drawing a check” every month, and the constant barrage of the left’s shameful agenda.

All of my thoughts regarding special interest groups can be summed up in a quote from a bumper sticker I saw in 1984 in Fairbanks, Alaska. The sticker brazenly declared, “Nuke the gay unborn baby whales.” In that time those were the main topics being batted around by special interest groups and our legislatures. The author of the bumper sticker was inferring that there were much more important issues at hand and was not committing some hate crime, though I know some of the simple minded will still view it that way. Now, let’s be totally clear on this before going further, I am against any form of abortion with the exception of lifesaving measures for the mother. Your sexual orientation does not concern me at all, even if you seek out illicit sex with garden vegetables, that’s your business as long as its consensual, and not in my own garden. Oh, and don’t expect me to condone it; keep your perversions to yourself. (I fully expect a new law to be created now) And finally, I like baby whales, so you PITA and Greenpeace folks don’t even start with your goofiness.

I personally have had a belly full of the sententious rhetoric from the left, and from all appearances, the silent majority has as well. It is time for the thinking people to rise up and let their voices be heard.

In closing, I leave you with this quote from John Stuart Mill,   

“Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.”

    Once again you and I are on the same page. If the Left wins the Presidency or takes control of Congress or both (which will cause me to move to Australia) I am going to sell my ranch!

    My rural, conservative, pondering view totally and completely agrees with your assessment of our nation’s situation. What I don’t know how to reconcile is this position with Christ’s teaching. Much study, prayer, and meditation is required for me. I understand this was not your goal in your article. However, for those of us who believe in Christ, this is what it eventually comes down to.
